Exosus

Cursed recently tore shit up on their way through town with Converge/Terror/Mare on the Aggressive Tendancies Tour. Their guitar player was wearing this pretty cool shirt from a band I'd never heard of, Exosus. The artwork was of this skull headed corporate type blowing a hole in his hold in head with a handgun. Very simple, yet very effective. The use of red in the background, the band name, and the skull's eyeballs really help this design pop out. The skull guy looks like he's staring straight into your soul as he blows skull chunks out the back of his head. The art was done by the band's drummer, Joshy. He also did the artwork for the Exosus 'feed the furnace' 7" (see below).

Exosus hail from Washington, DC and have a raging 7" titled 'feed the furnace' on Reptillian Records, and a split 7" with Clancy 6 on McCarthyism Records. They remind me of 'petitioning the empty sky' era Converge, mixed with the fast grinding style of Systral with a little bit of His Hero is Gone. The 'feed the furnace' 7" has one of the best die cut covers I've seen in a long time. One flap is a hand holding a razor that overlays the other flap which is another hand. Opening the flap reveals a slit wrist oozing blood. Awesome.

Unfortunately the band have called it a day. They will have one more release coming out in the new year, a split cd that will feature some of the last songs they wrote. I'm looking forward to hearing it.
