There have been a lot of great new bands popping up over the last year playing traditional style hardcore while putting their own spin on it to make it unique and memorable. Think Modern Life is War, Mental, Betrayed, and now add Ruiner to that list. Their 'What could possibly go right...' 7" released last year on Firestarter and Grave Mistake Records is chock full of the passion, intensity and emotion that makes these bands stand out above the pack. The music is fast, aggressive and catchy as hell and the vocals are delivered with a sense of urgency that you can't help but get drawn in. If you're looking for reference points think earlier Modern Life is War or the underrated Affront, another great band from the D.C. area. Check out the Ruiner myspace page to hear some great tunes.

They have a couple new shirts available at their online store. One design has some goofy looking dinosaurs with the text "God Doesn't Believe in Us" on the back. Great idea but I'm not sure I dig the presentation. My son would be down with it though. The other design is more to my liking and features a traditional crest with rays behind it and the band name in big serif lettering underneath it all. Printed black on an ash grey shirt it looks pretty classy.|||114824447890619409|||
